AT Medics commenced its caretaker management contract for Mitchison Road Surgery on Saturday 1st August 2015 with a rapid mobilization rollout at short notice by NHS England.
Outgoing practice Partners Dr Imogen Bloor, Dr Rathini Ratnavel and Dr Natalie Jeffcote delivered an exceptionally smooth and helpful handover.
The outgoing practice partners issued the following statements:
“We, the Partners at Mitchison Road Surgery, resigned our GMS contract at the end of January 2015, and our last day will be 31st July 2015. The Partners took the difficult decision to resign following pressures around the lease of premises, retention and recruitment of clinical staff, finances and workload. We tried our utmost to find a way of continuing to provide high quality care to our patients, but we reached a point where we felt unable to take the practice forward.
NHS England has decided that it is in the best interests of patients, for an NHS GP service to continue to be provided from the Mitchison Road premises…a Caretaker Organisation will run the practice from the 31.7.15. Existing patients will remain registered at Mitchison Road Surgery.
NHS England is in the process of writing to all patients to provide formal notification of the decision and to share NHSE’s responses to the questions that patients raised at the two consultation events.”
With extensive experience in clinical turnaround, AT Medics has embraced the challenges existing at Mitchison Road Surgery and has deployed an experienced team for mobilization and to tackle the prevalent issues head-on.
Dr Aumran Tahir, AT Medics GP Director commented “We recognise and respect the legacy of a high-standard of patient care left by the outgoing partners, and aspire to maintain continuity inspired by their unfaltering hard work and commitment to Mitchison Road Surgery.
A great deal of synergy and common values exist between us, and we are optimistic that existing and new patients will also experience this connection in ethos, and we also hope to regain the trust of those patients who have migrated with an opportunity to return to their original surgery, albeit reformed and significantly improved.
We regret that we were unable to retain the practice partners, however we wish them all the very best and have invited them to keep in touch with us and the patients with whom we know they share a very special bond.”
It is with great pleasure that AT Medics has accepted a caretaker contract for Mitchison Road Surgery.
