AT Medics commenced its caretaker management contract for The Chestnuts Park Surgery on Friday 15th April 2016, with a rapid mobilization rollout at short notice by NHS England.
With extensive experience in clinical turnaround, AT Medics has embraced the challenges existing at The Chestnuts Park Surgery and has deployed an experienced team for mobilization and to tackle the prevalent issues head-on.
NHS England met with patients in January 2016 following the resignation of the previous management provider, to listen to their views about the future of GP services at the practice. Patients shared their feedback which focused on very poor access, inadequate practice management and unsatisfactory customer service. AT Medics is pleased to have accepted the caretaker contract, and is committed to delivering a high standard of service beyond caretaking.
The Chestnuts Park Surgery is located in Haringey, the sixth most deprived borough in London and home to a very diverse community. Almost two-thirds of the local population and over 70% of young people in Haringey are from ethnic minority backgrounds.
AT Medics is a GP led primary care provider based in London, focused on delivering high quality, accessible primary healthcare services. They also manage the nearby Mitchison Road Surgery in Islington, where they have achieved a huge reputational shift since they began managing in 2015, and are well known for turnaround and improvement.
AT Medics work has included working in some of the most deprived areas in London and increasing access and provision successfully. They have also worked in difficult, poorly performing practices and have rapidly improved performance and efficiency, as well as developing and retaining a steady team.
Dr Aumran Tahir, AT Medics GP Director and Founder commented “We will be focused on responding to and better understanding the specific needs of patients at The Chestnuts Park Surgery, whilst working to improve cooperation with local community organisations and to engage better with patients with enhanced health promotion.
Access is an issue in every GP practice up and down the country, but this simply means we need to work smarter and to be innovative in the way we deliver care.
We have already launched a new website for The Chestnuts Park Surgery patients (www.chestnutsparksurgery.co.uk), available in 100s of languages, and this resource enables and promotes patient services such as Online Appointment booking, viewing your Medical Records, “Message My GP” and ordering Repeat Prescriptions – we will be working with our patient group to help them to access these resources to ultimately enhance their experience.
It’s really important to involve patients in helping to shape the care we deliver, as their voice helps us to design a service that truly meets their needs. We will be holding an Open Day soon to reach out to patients and the local community, and we will proactively engage with them to improve patient satisfaction through a consistent, personalised, warm and compassionate approach.”
AT Medics will be holding an open day on Wednesday 18th May 2016 from 2pm – 4pm at the practice where patients will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the services that will be offered.
It is with great pleasure that AT Medics has accepted a caretaker contract for The Chestnuts Park Surgery.
