On Friday 19th June 2015, Secretary of State for Health Jeremy Hunt made an announcement about incentivising more people to become GPs and why more practices around the UK should adopt a seven day service.

Dr Mateen Jiwani at Barlby Surgery delivered an excellent interview to BBC News Health Editor Hugh Pym, and this was aired on the 6pm and 10pm news on BBC 1.

Barlby Surgery implemented a seven day service in 2014, long before the government added it to their agenda of reforms within the NHS. As such, Barlby Surgery has contributed by delivering insightful statistics on usage and impact of a seven day service, encouraging this kind of innovation. Additionally, Edith Cavell Surgery and Kings Road Medical Centre, both also managed by AT Medics, deliver a seven day service.
