Thamesmead Health Centre organised a Cancer Awareness Day at Greenwich Islamic Centre as part of Men’s Health Week 2015 on Friday 12th June 2015, having delivered a very successful Diabetes Awareness Day the week before.
The purpose of Men’s Health Week is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys, whilst challenging men with healthy living goals.
Thamesmead Health Centre reached out to the local community, and the Cancer Awareness Day was well attended with hundreds of worshippers from the Mosque flocking to the representatives to find out about the various types of cancer, such as prostate, testicular and cancer of the colon, as well as the methods of detection and support available for sufferers.
