Edith Cavell Surgery organised a Free Health Advice session at Streatham Hill Library as part of Health Awareness Week 2015 on Monday 15th June 2015.

The purpose of Health Awareness Week is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of diseases, whilst challenging people with healthy living goals.

Navim Ali and Muriam Afrasiab, Health Care Assistants at Edith Cavell Surgery coordinated and attended the event, meeting with many members of the public who were interested in many different aspects of health guidance such as smoking cessation, diet management, alcohol related issues and getting fit through exercise.

Visitors received personalised health advice together with literature and booklets for self-management provided by the British Heart Foundation, NHS Smoke Free and Diabetes UK. The team also provided patient dietary information leaflets from Patient.info. Edith Cavell Surgery has been requested to rerun the session quarterly due to the high levels of interest and attendance.

Special thanks to Streaham Hill Library’s Asmaa Ansari (Librarian).
